Evidence and options
Cannabis / Psychedelics / Ketamine
Known for many years as recreational drugs and stigmatised as drugs of abuse, there has been renewed attention on the medicinal role these substances may have in mental health.

Older than the research
Psychedelics have been used throughout history, originating in Indigenous cultures, some going back hundreds of years.
With new understanding, evidence-based study, and recognition and respect for the cultural roots of these medicines, people who have had poor results with traditional medications, whether through side effects or poor response, may consider these options.
Medicinal cannabis
Dr. S has prescribed medicinal cannabis over a number of years, and has actively educated the public and other healthcare professionals through speaking engagements on the subject.
Medicinal cannabis works on the endocannabinoid system already present in our bodies, which is involved in chronic pain, sleep, anxiety and inflammation. He has worked particularly with veterans and with PTSD.
Ongoing research
He is also familiar with ongoing research into the potential medical application of psilocybin, MDMA for PTSD, and ketamine for treatment-resistant depression, with particular attention to the therapy that should accompany these options.
With further understanding, and information shared responsibly, together with an assessment, this is another option that may be appropriate for some people living with mental health conditions.
